Awareness & Intuition
by Nancy
C. Pohle & Ellen L. Selover
The more & more each is impelled by that which is intuitive, or the relying upon the soul force within, the greater,
the farther, the deeper, the broader, the more constructive maybe the result...
792-2, Edgar Cayce readings
Information is all around us. By merely turning on the radio, tuning in to a television
channel, or clicking onto the Internet, we can have instant access to an incomprehensible amount of data.
The key to sending & receiving this information is the intricate network of transmitters
& receivers around the globe. We'd be astounded if we could see all the sound waves, laser beams, impulses & signals
that cross back & forth beyond our levels of perception.
Our bodies are also powerful transmitters & receivers. We transmit
thru our voice & inflection, choices of words, facial expressions, actions & body language.

Likewise,
our physical senses:
- hearing
- sight
- taste
- smell
- touch
are powerful receptors, able to retrieve immense amounts of information every second. They send signals thru the nervous
system to the brain, which then processes & responds to that information w/ messages & impulses.
A simple
way to become aware of these processes is to think about the information we receive upon stepping outdoors.
Our
senses instantly perceive & relay to the brain signals regarding the:
- change in temperature
- the moisture content in the air
- the intensity of the sun
- the flight of a bird
- the whine of a nearby lawnmower
We
might smell the pungent odor of grease & oil or the unmistakable aroma of a backyard barbecue. All of these elements provide
us with instant information about this new environment.

On
the mental level, we transmit information thru every thought we think & each emotion we express. These go out from us in the form of energy which can be perceived by
others.
Though
we may often be unaware of the source of the signal, we still
may pick up on the finer vibrations of thought & emotion, just as we do the physical sensations.
We transmit & receive this information in a similar pattern, even though the energies are difficult
to measure.
Mirka
Knaster, author of Discovering the Body's Wisdom, suggests that
the body's internal network of sensory receptors provides us w/ proprioception (awareness of the precise position of our body) & kinesthesia (the awareness of direction of movement) which, combined,
function as a sixth sense, allowing us to know
where we are in space & time.
According
to Knaster, it's these proprioceptors which pick up energy emanating from other people & other creatures around us. On yet another energy level -- the spiritual -- we become
aware of influences & information thru intuition.

When we lay the groundwork for a spiritual connection to one another & to God, we sharpen these
higher senses of receptivity.
Intuition is our greatest link to our higher selves (our spiritual selves) & thus to God.
.
. . Seek not from without, but to those consciousnesses, those voices, those feelings, those vibrations as may arise from within. For know, as has been indicated,
there He, the Giver of all good and perfect gifts, makes to grow those seeds which ye have sown.
1991-1 Edgar Cayce
readings
The regular practice of meditation allows us to tune in to our higher senses & clear our sensory systems
of the static of other influences.
We become cognizant of
the impulses that arise from within with which we truly resonate. Everything we do to become more spiritually attuned improves
our ability to understand, interpret & follow thru on the guidance we receive.
One
way to understand how this process works is to imagine a playground full of excited children, w/a parent sitting on a sideline.
That parent is so well attuned, so familiar with his or her own child's voice, that he or she can,
at any given moment, instantly pick out that voice from all the others on the playground.
So it's with intuition. As
we become more spiritually attuned, we can better pinpoint the "sound" of our higher self, or of God & learn to recognize it.

How People Actually Experience Intuition
The intuitive impressions
we receive come to us in a variety of different ways. As you read the following descriptions & examples, we hope that you catch a glimpse of the intriguing & often unanticipated ways that intuitive impressions can be experienced. Perhaps you'll recognize your own talents below & realize that you're psychic after all!
Clairvoyance (clear seeing or clear vision) is experienced when an individual discerns objects, people or situations, not w/the physical eyes, but w/ an
internal sense sometimes referred to as the "third eye". Such
"visions" concern something beyond one's physical view, e.g., in the next room, down the street or a thousand miles
away.
Clairaudience (clear hearing) is the ability to receive
thoughts or information about a person or situation thru an auditory sense instead of a visual one. This information is actually inaudible
to the normal hearing range.

It
can be experienced as delicate sounds such as music, bells, or singing. It might also manifest
as a knocking, siren or other attention-getting sound.
Most often, it comes as a voice that's literally heard either directly in the brain or thru the auditory sense,
as if it comes from beside or behind the person.
This voice can have many aspects, at times sounding like the person's own & at others taking on a change
of tone, volume or pitch & sounding like someone else.
It can take on an authoritarian tone or that of warning, gentle prodding or encouragement. It can also be very objective & matter-of-fact.
Clairsentience (clear sensing) is probably the most frequent way intuition manifests in our lives, thru hunches, gut feelings or a sense of knowing w/out knowing how one knows. This "sensing" is often accompanied by a physical sensation -- for some
people in the solar plexus, for others in the heart area.
Some feel a prickling of their skin. The physical sensation can vary w/each person.
This information comes to us in a variety of ways. At times, it comes as a thought that walks across the mind in a natural, subtle manner. When intuition comes to us in this way, it's so much like the regular musings
of our mind that we can easily miss it, dismiss it, or mistake it for our own ruminations.

Intuition Thru the Other Senses
We can also experience intuition thru our senses of taste & smell,
known as clairsavorance
& clairscent, respectively, though these aren't as common as the others.
In
one reading (5163-1), a woman asked Cayce what was the meaning
of a particular scent that she smelled in the house periodically. His response was that it was the intuition that she
needed to cultivate; not an omen, but an influence that would be ever present.
Some
people have reported the experience of smelling a particular scent, such as lilacs or warm chocolate chip cookies, that they
associated w/a special person at the moment when that person passed away.
It's
also reported that people frequently smell the scent of roses whenever apparitions of Mother Mary occur.

The Perception of Vibration
Intuition can
also manifest as the discernment of energy or vibration, which can take many forms.
Telepathy is thought transference from the subconscious of one individual to that of another. This takes place nonverbally &
is commonly referred to as "mind reading".
Aura Perception is the ability to see the energy field surrounding all living beings &
inanimate objects as well.
The
Cayce readings refer to this field as an "emanation of the soul". The aura's colors & vibration can indicate
the condition & health of one's physical body, the mental / emotional state of one's mind &
the level of one's spiritual development.
Perception of
other realms. Yet another way this type of intuition manifests is the ability to visually perceive life forms from
other dimensions. These forms might include loved ones who have passed on, spirit guides, angels, nature spirits & others.
Psychometry is the ability to discern information from the vibration of an object.
By holding an object in one's hand, it's possible to pick up intuitive information about the object &/or the person to
whom it belongs.
Impressions
can be received thru visual images, words, thoughts or physical sensations about the object, or thru a combination of these. Insights can also come from the vibrations in a
particular location or setting.

IntuitionThru Time
Sometimes the intuition we receive relates to a time other than the present.
Precognition is the ability to know about something before it actually occurs. This insight into the future can happen in the conscious
state as well as in the dream state & can be experienced thru any of the "clear senses" mentioned earlier.
Retrocognition is the ability to know details about something that's taken place in the past w/out having been told or having read
about it. As w/ precognition, we can experience
these insights thru any of the "clear senses" mentioned earlier. Past-life memories are an example of retrocognition.
Recognizing Intuitive Insights
How do we know when we're receiving intuitive information? How do we discern that particular type of information from the thousands
of impulses we receive every day?
As w/the different types of information experienced by individuals, confirmations
of intuition come to us in a variety of ways. Many people, especially those whose intuitive strength is thru clairsentience, experience physical sensations that
are harbingers of truth.
If the impressions are of a warning nature, the physical indicators might
include:
- restlessness
- physical pain
- discomfort in the stomach
Positive insights might trigger:
- "goose bumps"
- a spinning sensation at the top of the head
- spontaneous tears
- warmth in the hands or at the base of the spine
- a sense of opening in the heart area
Other people experience the existence of intuitive information thru
the emotions, such as a feeling of uneasiness, concern or confusion.
When the information is of a positive nature, joy, euphoria or profound peace may prevail. Another indicator of intuitive information is a sense
of great clarity, whether the insight comes as a thought, impression, voice or vision.

Use it Or Lose It By Joe Fermano
Albert Einstein used it.
Charles Darwin used it
Benjamin Franklin used it.
Oprah Winfrey still uses it.
Lilian Vernon uses it.
Leonardo Da Vinci used it a lot.
Stephen King uses it.
Napoleon used it.
Thomas Edison used it.
…The list goes on and on of the many great achievers whose
primary key to success is a common fact amongst them.
"INTUITION",…The ability to
"see the forest through the trees." True visionaries, people who follow their gut, and have learned how to trust their instincts
never make a decision without tapping their intuition! This is what I’ve chosen to discuss with you. This very important
KEY to success is the use of your intuition. The greatest visionaries, some of whom I cited above were able to see
the big picture and use that image to implement their dreams.
Lilian Vernon refers to her "Golden Gut",
as the key reason she’s one of America’s most successful catalogue queens. Stephen King agrees, saying,
" "What I write comes from the gut instead of my head, from intuition rather than intellect." Napoleon became one of
the most extraordinary military geniuses by violating traditional military tactics and relying on his "feel" for the
battle relative to his intuitive approach to the battlefield.
It’s crucially important for you to trust yourself and
act on your feelings. Looking back on my life the best decisions I made were intuition based! That is, what felt right
inside, based on what I knew about the situation at that time always produced the positive results I wanted. In fact, on several
pivotal moments in my life I’ve felt I already knew the answer and action to take. I could just "feel" it.
Nobel Prize winners Linus Pauling and Jonas
Salk both said, " we know the answer before we work it!" Basically there saying that they start with the answer and work
back to the question in the same way we program computers. In other words, you can’t get to where you wanna go until
you know where you’re going. Once you know where to go, what it is you need to do, then you can work out the details.
Unfortunately, most people believe that the details will lead you to the solution. WRONG!!
Albert Einstein actually likened himself
more the artist than scientist. Yeah! No kidding. He wrote, " Intuition is the gift of the gods, logic
is its faithful servant." Truth is, most of us have been given this gift. We just don’t use it! Intuition is really
the essence of common sense. The essence of all success and creativity is the freedom to think and refusing to be locked into
a single- minded field prescribed by our teachers, parents and bosses.
Remember, emotional decisions come from the heart, thinking
ones from the brain. Here’s a real fascinating fact;….Do you remember Dr. Suess? Of course you do. Ya know,
"Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham." Theodore Geisel, (Dr. Suess) completely worked out of a creativity basis he called
"logical insanity" to create the way he did. He said "when I dropped out of Oxford, I decided to be a child." That proved
to be his success,.. his image. His intuition led him to his greatness, as opposite as it was from attending the very well
respected Oxford University. Dr. Suess simply followed his "gut" and it led him to write some of the most read children’s
book ever!
The inner knowledge we often call "insight" or "intuitive
vision" should be followed more often by all of us. Do not be afraid to follow your "bliss" no matter where it
leads you. Chances are it’ll lead you to where you should be! Just look at where it led Thomas Edison, Columbus and
Mother Teresa. Think about it!!! Ben Franklin was a scientist, businessman, philosopher, printer, journalist,
author, inventor, diplomat, civic leader and architect of the Revolution! WOW!!! He was Mr. INTUITION!

Intuition
The dictionary definition
of intuition is "quick & ready insight" & "the act or process of coming to direct knowledge without reasoning or inferring." It's derived from the Latin word
"intueri" which means "to see within."
It's a way of knowing, of
sensing the truth without explanations. Someone may not consider themselves to be particularly spiritual or metaphysically adept yet may be
quite good at following their gut instincts.
What goes on in front of
the veil (in the conscious mind) is mostly about survival & procreation & not much
else, so some would say. Beyond that, things are a bit more of a mystery & we deal with it accordingly by lumping
things together in fairly broad categories which are treated somewhat totemically.
Whatever we don't understand we tend to put on a pedestal, treat as a god or a devil. It can be quite frustrating when we're GETTING the message, but NOT GETTING any logical reasoning along with it. When a person first becomes alert to intuitive messages it may seem disturbing not to understand the importance or unimportance of the messages.
Explanations usually come
along with intuitive messages on a "need to know basis." When the bigger, more important messages need to surface, they will, so pay attention! Listen with your heart.
We know know that the heart
has many more neurons than it would need just for circulation of blood. By following thru on your everyday hunches, you're actually taking test drives, virtually
honing in on your listening skills (click here for our listening skills).
These skills will serve
you well. Everyone is apparently somewhat psychic, but many people just have flabby psychic muscles. Learning to listen to your inner dialog tones & strengthens this muscle. The more you use your intuition
the better you get at it.
When we choose to ignore our gut instincts, we're only hurting ourselves. The holistic or wholistic movement is about healing this problem. Listening to your intuition is the essence of art & creativity & soulful living. Intuition is what you use to find the purpose of your life & your place in the world.
Once you awaken your inner
guide by unlocking the wisdom of your subconscious mind, you already know what to do. Being objective is harder when you're emotionally involved. It's
more mature to admit your emotions as a factor than to deny them. In philosophy, intuition is the power of obtaining knowledge that can't be acquired either by inference or observation, by reason or experience.
As such, intuition is thought of as an original, independent source of knowledge, since it's designed to account for just those kinds of knowledge that
other sources do not provide. Knowledge of necessary truths & of moral principles is sometimes explained in this way.
Energy is the essence of
all that is. The desk in your room that you see as being solid wood is actually atoms & isn't solid at all. In fact it
is a great deal more open space than solidity. Our bodies, when broken down to their smallest levels are also energetic frequencies.
Even Einstein said that
most of his innovation was actually just good guessing. A talent is something that some people are born w/while others have
to work at it. The greatest artists usually study & imitate the techniques of the ones who came before them.
In fact a museum had exactly
that as its original purpose. It was intended as a place to learn techniques, inspiration & intuition.
What is intuition? It's the ability to get a sense, vision or feeling about someone or something. Intuition communicates w/ us thru symbols, feelings & emotions. It usually doesn't speak to us in clear language. We all have intuition.
We are born w/ it. We use
it as children we don't know any better. We go on our instinct or gut. But as we grow older & our rational & reasonable
mind develops, we lose touch w/our intuition. We ignore it, cast it aside forget about it.
But like an out-of-shape
muscle, intuition can be strengthened & exercised back into shape. The easiest method
is attention.
By focusing on an object,
relaxing & taking deep breaths, we can retrain our minds to let our intuition surface. When
we concentrate on a single object, once a day, everyday & block out our rational mind, we begin the journey to get back
in touch w/our intuition.
First of all, get comfortable, sit down, relax & take 3 - 4 deep cleansing breaths.
Look at an object in the
room, focus, concentrate, block everything else out.
Do this as long at least
3-5 minutes. Now, close you eyes (if you like) & write down or tape record everything
that comes to your mind how you're feeling, what you're tasting, noises you're hearing & memories or pictures you visualize.
Write everything down, no
matter how insignificant. Don't push yourself let the impressions come to you. Write down or tape record your good qualities,
strengths, talents, skills, abilities, whatever you enjoy doing - are good at, etc. Try & be as detailed as possible.
i.e., you could be a good
writer, good listener, perceptive, creative, sensitive, empathic, problem-solver, hard worker, smart, educated, published writer, go-getter w/leadership
skills, committed. '
Or maybe you can
think "outside of the box" or have computer skills, love children, home & community & desire to help others, notice when other people are suffering can feel their pain. You might be gentle, kind, giving, knowledgeable, quiet & friendly.
Where in your life is harmony?
Where is there discord?
There has been a resurgence
of interest in intuition & psychic experience in general & now there are a lot of
references in the media. For a while, at the beginning of the Scientific Paradigm, such things tended to be discounted or
just swept under the rug. When we turn on the TV we rarely even consider the laws of physics & electronics that cause
the TV set to work.
When one of our many gadgets
or vehicles doesn't perform, we usually just take it to someone who understands more about it than we do. If there's an unsolved mystery, even a stoic detective may now consult a psychic w/out loosing
his job. There are well know personalities in the media discussing such things regularly & lots of popular books on related
topic.
Yes, there's a lot of misinformation
& scams galore. Partly due to the fact that the human need for synthesis & interpretation has only increased with the complexity of our lives. Gradually we're accepting that physics & metaphysics have come full circle & arrived at a participatory universe.
When we reach the limits of what can be measured & quantified we must turn within & consult our inner resources for guidance & insight. It's well to know something of the skillful means of these principles. When you listen to your intuition it connects you w/a greater knowledge.
That part of you has an
overview of your life that has your best interest at heart. It can provide an oasis of peace in the midst of chaos, bring you to harmony, help you release negativity & give you confidence to take action & prepare for change in your life. It also can be a valuable guide as you take steps to create your dreams.

Diversions & Pitfalls on the Intuitive
Path
by Nancy C. Pohle & Ellen L. Selover
If we all have
access to intuition, information that would help us live happier, more creative & fulfilled lives, what is it that keeps us from tuning in to, recognizing & benefiting from it?
Without a doubt, the greatest impediment to effectively working w/ & understanding our own intuitive strengths is fear. It can take many forms:
Our fears can lead us into a state of denial, where we don't even recognize the promptings of our intuition when it tries to gain our attention. When we let these fears take hold, we're closing ourselves off from the greatest source of insight, help & comfort that we have available to us.
If we let the voices
of others speak louder, whether they're our closest friends & relatives of today or the authoritarian voices & childhood tauntings of years past, we give them greater power than our own insights.
Janice shared an
experience in which her fears nearly overrode her intuition regarding the purchase of a used car. Because she was aware
that she was letting fear take precedence, she found a way to work thru it & take action instead of remaining immobilized:
"I needed to replace my 10 year-old, unreliable car. I searched the local dealerships & newspapers while researching
information on the makes & models of the vehicles I was seeing.
"One
evening, I test-drove a compact sedan & as I tooled around the neighborhood, I felt an opening in my heart. I was really
excited about the car, as it seemed a good fit. I had it assessed by my mechanic, then contacted the bank about
a loan. Every time I thought about the car & the people I was buying it from, it felt right."
"Then
fears crept in & I became obsessed with 'what ifs': What if my intuition is wrong & there's something better out there for me? What if I get this car now & then find what I
really wanted at an unbelievable price? What if I don't get this car & my old one completely falls apart? What if I'm
not able to sell my old car? What if my friends don't like it? I was driving myself crazy.
"Finally,
I asked in prayer what I should do, as I was finding it difficult to remember my positive
intuitive response while all these fears were holding court. The thought came to mind to work w/an exercise I had learned many years before in Lucia Capacchione's book,
The Power of Your Other Hand."
"This
exercise is intended to help give voice to the unexpressed emotions & impressions that influence our self-image, self-esteem, & behavior. I began by writing, w/my dominant hand, questions regarding how I felt about the car
& the situation in general. With my non-dominant hand, I wrote the responses, a process that helps to disengage
normal rational thought & allows suppressed or forgotten thoughts & emotions to come to the surface."
"After
a few questions, the voice that came thru in my writing was that of my inner child, to whom I had
paid little attention over the years. What I learned was that she was afraid that if I purchased this car, I would pay even less attention to her need for expression, that is, my need to play, be lighthearted & to laugh. The car that I was considering was
very different from the sport utility vehicle that she wanted but I couldn't afford. So, my inner
child felt ignored & fought back by creating confusion."
"Because of the
writing exercise, I was able to mentally tune in to my inner child & made a commitment to take care of my need for excitement & play. Then I went out & purchased the car, which has served me very well."
Low Self-Esteem
If allowing fears to take hold can be so detrimental to our development, why do we let it happen?
Why do fears take precedence over our inner knowledge?
One reason is low
self-esteem. We forget that we are children of God, divine beings w/a divine inheritance who have direct access to all the help & guidance we
need.
We doubt our own ability to be in touch w/our higher self, or that it even exists. We enfold ourselves in thoughts & feelings that disguise our true nature.
The litany of self-effacement
sounds something like:
-
"I'm not good enough"
-
-
"I don't know how"
-
"I can't..."
When we lend energy
to such thoughts, we feed our fears rather than the divine spark within & thus dull our senses to the messages we might otherwise receive.
Perhaps our Western
culture's emphasis on acquired knowledge is partly to blame. Most of us spend many years in school. In traditional institutions, we collect information in a linear, rational way, often
denying our own innate knowledge.
Nonlinear thinking is generally not appreciated, at best & is frequently discouraged, either thru blatant criticism or dismissive attitudes of its validity. After years of this non-supportive response, most sensitive people learn to squelch the expression of their true feelings.
Perhaps the key
to integrating the inner voice w/acquired knowledge is in finding ways to couch intuitive
insights in more conventionally acceptable terms, allowing for an appropriate expression in any given circumstance.
Loss of Attunement or Unclear Intent
The Cayce readings
(Edgar Cayce 1877-1945) are very clear that in order to tune in to our higher selves thru
our intuitive capabilities, we must keep spiritual growth as our primary focal point. Maintaining regular spiritual practices is absolutely essential to establishing & nourishing that attunement.
In addition to focused spiritual attunement, we need to be clear about our intent & clarifying our ideals. If we allow self-glorification, control over others, or a desire to simply make life easier to become our guiding motivation, we lose our connection to our true ideal.
Most often, this creates a muddying effect on our intuitive
senses, causing insights to become inaccurate or unreliable. To remain true to our higher selves, the readings suggest that unconditional love & service to others should be our guiding lights.
Diversions & Pitfalls on the Intuitive Path
(cont.)
Pitfalls on the Intuitive Path: Judging Others
In the process
of recognizing & developing our intuitive gifts, we will most likely begin to pick up information
about those around us, our family, friends, co-workers, or even someone we pass on the street.
It can be a great
temptation to judge their thoughts, emotions, or actions, based on our insights. It's vital to seek ways that we can be of service rather than compounding another's burden thru judgmentalism, reminding ourselves that there's always more to a story than we might realize.
Misinterpreting Signals
As we begin to
put our intuitive insights into practice, it is likely that we will experience times when we just don't get it right. The following example, shared
by Ria, is one in which the misinterpretation of an intuitive insight, compounded by judgment of another person, created a very uncomfortable & difficult situation:
"One
evening after attending a conference, I was preparing for bed, anxious to get to sleep because I needed to get up early. As I was drifting off to sleep, I got the impression that I shouldn't leave my small pack, which contained
my wallet, near the bed. The feeling was very strong, but I was exhausted & after a moment of wondering what else to do with it,
I left it where I'd originally intended & just decided not to leave it unattended. I was rooming w/someone I did not know well & although I felt a little
uncomfortable w/her, I decided that I was just being oversensitive & suspicious.
"The next morning, I pulled my hairbrush out of the pack & went into the bathroom, completely forgetting my resolution not to leave my belongings unattended. Then I remembered that the pack was
now open on the bed in full view of my roommate, who was also getting ready. I panicked, raced back to the room & scooped
up everything that had fallen out, but couldn't locate the wallet. I looked everywhere.
"Certain
that my 'intuition' had been trying to warn me about this person, I asked her if she knew
the whereabouts of my wallet. When she said, 'No,' I insisted that she open her suitcase for me. I then went thru her belongings.
Although this response wasn't my normal mode of dealing w/a crisis, I was filled with conviction, certain that I knew what was going on & standing up for myself.
"My roommate was
understandably confused & appalled by my actions; however, she tried valiantly to not take my behavior personally. After we both searched thru
each others' suitcases & other belongings, I finally found my wallet trapped in a fold of the blanket on my bed. I felt
absolutely awful & incredibly ashamed.
"My first mistake
had been in ignoring my intuition in the first place. If I'd gone ahead & put my wallet in a more secure location, it wouldn't have fallen out of my pack & I wouldn't have had to worry about it."
"My second mistake
was that I assumed the information I was getting was about the potential behavior of my roommate, not about a situation I
might create because of my suspicions. If I had taken the time to pray, to tune in a little more closely & ask for clarification, I believe I would have received the information I needed at the time. The entire episode would have been avoided."
When we allow ourselves
to learn from our intuition, to move with it & to grow with it, we truly progress, even,
or perhaps especially, when we stumble a&make mistakes. One person asked Edgar Cayce in a reading, "How can I avoid getting incorrect answers?" His response reflects the great compassion of the Universal Forces:
No one way while remaining in the flesh! For,
there is ever the trial, the test, the gradual growth. And there are faults, but use those faults as stepping-stones -- and
be guided by the greater influence that is thy ideal. 317-7
More than a simple
"try, try again" approach, this answer reflects a compassionate understanding of the complexities of life on earth & of the struggle thru which every soul must find its way. It's almost as
if the Universe is saying to us,
"Okay, here you
are. What have you learned?
What did you miss?
How might you act
or respond differently the next time you're faced w/a similar situation?"
Steps to Intuitive Development
Rather
than a list of techniques, the following steps come from the Cayce readings' approach, which emphasizes practices that will
strengthen our connection with the Divine within & help us to better discern the information we receive:
Spiritual practices. Intuition develops naturally as a result of our spiritual development. Meditating, praying, setting ideals & working w/others on a spiritual path are all important tools for spiritual growth.
Ask
questions during meditation & listen for the answers. If an answer isn't forthcoming, consider that there may be other underlying questions that need to be answered first.
Pay attention to the impressions you receive as you fall asleep or first awaken. Insights will come as a result of asking questions during meditation, thru inner reflection, or as you're falling asleep. Write these down & find a positive way to act on them.
Trust your inner self as much as your analytical self. This can take practice, as it's easy to brush aside our
intuitive promptings. Give yourself permission to give voice to the intuitive.
Have
an insatiable curiosity. Discover those things you're drawn to & follow them.
Inspirational writing after a period of meditation or attunement. While in the meditative state, write down your thoughts, feelings & impressions.
Spend
time in nature. We can learn about our own natural balance & harmony by attuning to those primordial aspects of God's creation.
Exercise regularly
& maintain a healthy diet. If the physical body isn't in equilibrium, our intuitive
development is inhibited.
Listen to uplifting music & read inspiring literature. This positive engagement of our mental & emotional selves nourishes us spiritually.
Develop
your creative imagination. Spend time expressing talents & activities for which you have a passion.
Conclusion
Intuitive awareness is more than just an indicator of how adept we are at accessing psychic perceptions. It's an indication of how attuned we
are to our spiritual side. When we develop & rely on our abilities, discern inner truths & apply that awareness on the physical level, we open the doorway to manifesting our true highest selves.
